How long the cash lasts

Runway is the only forecast that cannot be argued with. It either reaches the next milestone or it does not.

This calculator runs entirely in your browser. No figure you enter is transmitted, stored or logged — the page makes no network request while you use it. The model is a simplified illustration of standard arithmetic and is not investment, tax, legal or lending advice, and not an offer. Real outcomes depend on contract terms, fees, taxes and your own circumstances.

How it works

Compounding works against you too

Burn rarely stays flat. The model grows it each month, which is why runway is usually shorter than a simple division suggests.

Net burn

Gross burn less revenue. If revenue exceeds burn the model reports the position as cash-flow positive rather than inventing an end date.

Growth in burn

Hiring and infrastructure compound. Two percent a month is roughly twenty-seven percent a year — enough to remove several months of runway.

What to do with it

Raising is conventionally begun with well over six months of runway remaining. Runway measured in weeks removes your negotiating position entirely.

Arithmetic is the easy part.

The judgement that matters is what you do with the answer.
